11 Lakh PAN cards deactivated. Here how you can Check if Your Pan Card is Active or Not.
The Government has deactivated over 11 lakh PAN cards because of duplication.
Moreover,1,566 PAN cards have been identified as 'fake' which were allotted to either non-existent person or in the names of persons with false identities,informed by Minister of state for finance Santosh Gangwar to Rajya Sabha recently.
According to government rule, it is illegal for a person to have more than one PAN number registered under his/ her name, A penalty of Rs 10,000 is liable to be imposed under section 272B of the Income-tax Act.
To check whether your PAN card is active or deactivated, check the following steps
- Click on the given Link to know your PAN status ( https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-Filing/Services/KnowYourPanLinkGS.html )
- Now enter the following details: name, gender, religion, date of birth, registered mobile number and then click Submit.
- Now you will receive a OTP on your mobile number. Enter that OTP.
- In the end, you will see the result showing status of your PAN card under 'remarks' column: active or not active.
